Kat Steele v Ruth Asdown (Crawley) at K2 Leisure Centre 07-10-2006 Ruth wins on points for English title.

This was a very hard fought battle as we expected with a lot of pressure from Ruth's side due to her being on home ground, but Kat was not phased and had Ruth under pressure from the start, using her technical ability to simply outclass her opponent. All credit to Ruth, she was very strong with her straight punch and her right low kick was on target, she was pressing forward throughout but Kat was using a much more clever technique side stepping and countering everything Ruth threw at her, also being much more effective with right body & front kicks, knee strikes and clinch, and also landing some superb jumping front kicks and strong left high kicks. I scored it that the first round was a pretty close contest with Kat winning the 2nd and 3rd and Ruth having the 4th, Kat punished Ruth in the 5th which left Kat the clear winner, however the judges scored it differently with a split decision going to Ruth. This was a great fight, we are all proud of Kat and her superb performance. Well done!!!
